Combination Skin

How to identify combination skin?

Combination skin combines localized skin dryness and oiliness. Combination skin is otherwise characterized by dry or normal-feeling skin, but an oily T-zone, i.e. the forehead, nose and chin. Combination skin is a very common skin type in Finland, due to, among other things, the climate and nutritional factors.

Function of combination skin

It is very natural for the skin to produce different amounts of emollient sebum in different areas. In general, combination skin has active sebaceous glands, i.e. abundant sebum production in the T-zone, and elsewhere normal. If the rest of the face feels dry, this may be due to improper treatment of the skin with oily skin care products such as over-washing agents. Excessively cleansing ingredients can dry out normal areas of the skin. Moisture deficiency is common in combination skin, often referred to as surface dryness. This refers to the drying of the skin due to external factors, and is usually solved by the right treatment methods.

How the combination skin need to be treated?

The treatment of combination skin is sometimes considered challenging as it can be treated in different skin areas according to their needs. When treating combination skin, it is worth remembering that even if part of the skin area feels oily, the skin can easily dry out when using products that are too washed. For skin care, it is often advisable to choose a gentle option if there is surface dryness in the skin. It may take a while to look for a suitable skin care routine and method, and the effects of the season on the condition of the skin will not help. Moisturizing the skin is good to remember and treat any impurities with targeted products and T-zone masks.
